Please fill out an application form HERE!
The Village of Bronxville is seeking a volunteer to oversee the Bronxville Giving Garden located on the corner of Pondfield Road and Gramatan Avenue. This nonprofit community garden operates under the umbrella of the Bronxville Green Committee with support and approval of the Village Trustees. The Giving Garden Director will oversee the growing of organic vegetables and donating them to local food banks and will help to increase community engagement around the garden.
This volunteer position is ideal for someone with administrative experience who is passionate about reducing food insecurity in our area through food donations and giving back to our community.
The position does NOT involve gardening; however, knowledge of growing vegetables and running a community garden is welcome. The position does not require experience as an educator; however, experience setting up and maintaining educational programming is also welcome. The Green Committee will offer guidance and support and is asking for a one-year commitment.
Responsibilities include:
overseeing established farmers to ensure the garden’s productivity and maintenance of the physical garden
maintaining relationships with our local food donation partners
expanding educational programing and community engagement by forming partnerships with teaching organizations and school groups
overseeing the budget and running fund-raising campaigns, as needed
This position may require more time in the first months, as you establish partnerships and get to know the other volunteers. You can learn more about the garden HERE.
